About Ranseen Marketing

7 Years of Doing it Online

If you had told me a few years back that I’d still be doing this after seven years, I’m not sure that I’d have believed you. But this May (2008) marked the beginning of the 8th year of Ranseen Marketing (formerly called NoSpin Marketing…and I’m still a “no-spinner”)

Online marketing continues to change rapidly and offer businesses significantly more opportunities than it did in 2001. And that’s why I’m still doing it online. Online marketing continues to be challenging and rewarding, and I love helping businesses grow. While the web world has evolved a lot since the beginning of the 21st century – as have the tools and tactics, my core approach remains very much the same as it was in 2001. The biggest benefit you’ll get working with Ranseen Marketing is my 30 years of business experience – including Internet marketing experience since 1996 – to help you navigate the inevitable bumps in your market(s) but still succeed online.

Many, Many Thanks to My Clients

Ranseen Marketing is the compilation of my business and marketing experiences over the last three decades coupled with knowledge gained from reading, sharing, taking courses, and analyzing ideas about marketing and business practice and theory. I continue to learn the most from my clients, and have had a lot of successes over seven years. But I still find that a few failures now and then still teach me a lot more than my triumphs. Since starting Ranseen Marketing, I've learned a few lifetimes worth of valuable marketing know-how that can be applied to virtually any business. I’ve also learned a ton the past couple years from Perry Marshall, who is the planet’s leading Google Adwords guru – and a stellar all around website marketer.

My best talents are being able to quickly analyze complex business issues; cut through internal politics that often get in the way of good business; synthesize and prioritize key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; think creatively "out-of-the-box; recommend crystal clear, concise results-oriented courses of marketing action; and help diverse types of businesses become more successful by selling more products/services at a profit. I like to get my hands dirty and not just “strategize” but also help you implement those marketing courses of action, as well. I write all content myself (with my clients) on the sites that I help develop. And I excel at search engine optimization (SEO) to generate contacts and/or direct sales online. They are inextricably intertwined.

I am NOT a web designer or web technology expert but have great partners. And BTW, if you are looking for one advertising, design or technology firm to handle your online marketing, website design, and website technology, you’ll be looking for a really long time. BUT working with Ranseen Marketing is like working with a single firm because I also provide the website development project management that coordinates all of the online marketing, design, and technology with my partners – and you the client.

Not The Bureaucratic Type

I love helping businesses grow and become more profitable, but I don't miss the "corporate" thing at all—after doing that for over 20 years. I’m much more effective as an independent marketer than as a full-time, always-in-the-office corporate guy. Admittedly, I tend to rail against hierarchies in general; stupid rules; mind numbing, purpose-less meetings; ego-centric/control freak executives who don't even know their own products and treat people poorly; and so-called “Sales and Marketing” management types who haven’t a clue about online marketing. Very simply—unlike a lot of other marketing types—I will tell it like it is—even if that's not exactly what you want to hear. I am not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s OK.
