Brussels, Belgium, 13-14 November 2008: The European Commission organized an international conference on Poverty-Related Diseases, focussing on 'the big three' global killer diseases: HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB. EU Commissioner Potocnik called for political momentum for continuing and intensifying research. The EU's Framework Programme 6 (FP6) has allocated more than EUR 450m to research and development into new drugs, vaccines and clinical investigations for poverty-related diseases.
