70th Anniversary of the first trial flights from Newfoundland to Foynes

On 6th July 2007 a PBY Catalina Flying Boat will land on the calm waters of the River Shannon at Foynes Port, Co Limerick. This is to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the first trial flights across the North Atlantic from Newfoundland to Foynes on 6th July 1937.
The Flying Boat will leave Botwood, Newfoundland the previous evening under the command of Captain Patrick White and his son Captain Ian White. It will remain at Foynes for approximately three weeks before flying back to Newfoundland on August 1st and will be open to visitors during that time when you visit the Foynes Flying Boat Museum.
A great three day festival is planned for July 6th - 8th. Further details to follow but do put it in your diaries and watch www.transatlanticflightpby.com or telephone Foynes Flying Boat Museum on +353 69 65416.
