PRESS RELEASE: 11 June 2008 The Norfolkline Liverpool Irish Festival has taken part in a huge parade through the city centre. The annual Lord Mayors Parade saw scores of decorated floats and hundreds of people take to the streets of Liverpool. The Norfolkline Liverpool Irish Festival float was joined by dancers from the George Ferguson School of Irish Dance. The float was decorated in the theme of 'Children of Lir', the ancient Irish legend, which was the subject of the Liverpool Irish Festival schools project that took place in March. The festival representatives handed out leaflets to the thousands watching the parade detailing the festival events this year. The parade was one of the city's Capital of Culture celebrations and the festival is playing a huge part in the year's festivities. Mary O'Hanlon, one of the dancers said:
"When we started to move crossing Pall Mall, going towards the city, everyone cheered- it was great!" Anna Gilbert, festival director, said:
"We were delighted to be involved in the parade and promote the festival and the Liverpool Irish to
the city. ENDS For more information please contact Catherine on 0151 239 5000.
