Business and Society Program

Our Mission

The Business and Society Program is dedicated to developing leaders for a sustainable global society. Through dialogues and path-breaking research, we create opportunities for executives and educators to explore new pathways to sustainability and values-based leadership. BSP's websites, www.CasePlace.org and www.beyondgreypinstripes.org, are the leading sources of innovative curriculum in top business schools around the world. The Business and Society Program is an independently-funded policy program of the Aspen Institute.

Read Judith Samuelson's August 12th interview with TK Kerstetter, President & CEO of Corporate Board Member
here.  In the ensuing discussion she articulates the relationships between companies and boards: "Successful companies and their boards mediate between competing interests all the time—in fact that may be their most important role: to help managers keep an ear to the long-term issues while managing the noise at the short-end of the investor spectrum."

Aspen BSP Director Judith Samuelson featured in Directors and Boards Magazine. "The Aspen Principles: A better way". In this Directors & Boards cover story, Judith Samuelson explores the genesis of the Aspen Principles, when a "critical mass of 'strange bedfellows' came up with a plan in 2007 to reverse the destructive pull of short-termism on U.S. business."
